Colleen Grugan, MS, ATC,  a member of Rowan's athletic training staff since 2005, became the Profs' Head Athletic Trainer in 2012 and in 2026, was elevated to Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance and Senior Women's Administrator.
 
She will provide executive oversight of the department’s sports medicine and sports performance operations, and the overall management of student-athlete health and care. Additionally, as Senior Women's Administrator she will continue to serve as a key member of the department’s senior leadership team and provide an important voice in advancing the overall mission and strategic priorities of Rowan Athletics.
 
In addition to overseeing all aspects of the sports medicine operations for Profs’ athletics as Head Athletic Trainer, she also supervises undergraduate students in the University’s athletic training education program.
 
Grugan earned her master’s degree in kinesiology from Georgia Southern University in 2004 and was an approved clinical instructor for that school’s athletic training education program while also becoming a certified athletic trainer in the state of Georgia.
 
She served as an assistant athletic trainer with the Profs from 2005 to 2012 after spending one year at Shawnee High School.
 
A 2002 graduate of Rowan, Grugan earned her degree in health and exercise science while earning Dean’s List recognition all eight semesters. She was the recipient of the Reutter/Dalsey Team Physician Medallion Award for Athletic Training, which is given to a graduating student who has achieved excellence in a curricular or special area.
 
A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association and Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey since 1999, Grugan has been a licensed athletic trainer in the state of New Jersey since 2005.
 
In 2015, Grugan was named to the Rowan University Athletic Training Hall of Fame.
