Colleen Grugan enters her 10th year as Rowan’s Head Athletic Trainer in 2022, overseeing all aspects of the sports medicine operations for Profs’ athletics while supervising undergraduate students in the University’s athletic training education program.
 
She moved into her current role after serving as an assistant athletic trainer from 2005 to 2012 and joined the Rowan staff after working in the same role at Shawnee High School.
 
Grugan earned her master’s degree in kinesiology from Georgia Southern University in 2004, and was an approved clinical instructor for that school’s athletic training education program while also becoming a certified athletic trainer in the state of Georgia.
 
A 2002 graduate of Rowan, Grugan earned her degree in health and exercise science while earning Dean’s List recognition all eight semesters. She was the recipient of the Reutter/Dalsey Team Physician Medallion Award for Athletic Training, which is given to a graduating student who has achieved excellence in a curricular or special area.
 
A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association and Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey since 1999, Grugan has been a licensed athletic trainer in the state of New Jersey since 2005.
