John Morris is in his third season as the diving coach and second on the staff at Rowan University.
Morris has been the diving coach at West Deptford High School and an assistant coach for Top Spin Diving since 2015. He also volunteers as an assistant swim coach for Special Olympics New Jersey. Prior, Morris was an assistant coach for South Jersey Area Diving from 2013-14.
Morris was a two-time All-American diver for the Profs from 2013-17. He placed fifth in the one- (475.60) and three-meter diving (516.30) at the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships. Morris also received All-America honorable mention three times. He was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Diver of the Year all four seasons and helped lead Rowan to a pair of conference titles. Morris was a six-time winner at the Metropolitan Championships and was selected the Diver of the Meet on three occasions. His performances assisted the Profs in capturing two team championships at Mets.
Morris also succeeded in the classroom, earning Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area honors twice. He garnered College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America accolades during his junior year. Morris was a three-time Rowan Scholar-Athlete and received NJAC All-Academic honorable mention three consecutive years. In addition, he served as a representative on the Rowan Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Morris ended his career as the school’s record holder in the one-meter diving (11 dives) (552.35).
Morris graduated cum laude in 2017 with a degree in mathematics. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in biomedical engineering with a concentration in regenerative medicine.
