Jassina Surles

Jassina Surles, a former standout track athlete in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, joins the Rowan men’s and women’s staff for the 2023-24 season.
 
She comes to Rowan after four years as an assistant at her alma mater, Stockton, where she worked with the sprinters and hurdlers.
 
While a student-athlete at Stockton from 2013 to 2016, Surles set four school records – the 60m hurdles (indoor), the 100m hurdles (outdoor) and the long jump (indoor, outdoor). She won five NJAC individual titles, four in the long jump and one in the 100m hurdles and earned a total of seven NJAC All-Conference accolades, with five First-Team selections and two to the Second Team. Surles was named the NJAC’s Outstanding Field Athlete in 2016.
 
Surles finished ninth in the long jump at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships and was 16th in both the long jump and the 100m hurdles at the 2016 Outdoor Championships.
 
The native of Williamstown, NJ, earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Stockton in 2016. She has a son, Xavier.
