Steve Tucker, a Rowan Hall of Famer, enters his 21st overall season on the Profs’ football coaching staff and currently serves as the coordinator of analytics and special projects.
Tucker rejoined the Profs' staff in 2017 having previously spent 16 years with Rowan from 1986 to 2001. He was the offensive coordinator from 1993 to 1999, assisting the teams that won three New Jersey Athletic Conference titles and made five trips to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. He has also coached the offensive line during his time with the Profs.
He started his coaching career at Glassboro High School as the offensive line coach and offensive coordinator from 1975 to 1985. Tucker also served as the Bulldogs' head golf coach (1976 to 2003) where he compiled 400 wins. In addition, Tucker coached baseball at Sacred Heart High School (2005-08).
Tucker was a two-sport standout at Rowan, playing both football (1971-74) and golf (1972-75) for the Profs under Coach Richard Wackar. He earned All-Conference honors as an offensive lineman and was an All-American in golf his senior year, as well as a three-time All-NJAC selection.
Inducted into the Rowan/Glassboro State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988, he was also honored for his coaching and playing career with induction into the Halls of Fame for the
NJSIAA Coaches, Gloucester County, the South Jersey Coaches, Glassboro High School and Delsea Regional High School.
Tucker retired after 42 years as a health and physical education teacher at Glassboro High School, Sacred Heart High School and Paul VI High School.
Tucker, who earned both bachelor's (1975) and master's (1991) degrees at Rowan, resides in Pittsgrove Township, NJ with his wife, Diane. Their son, Steve, was a swimmer for the Profs from 2006-10.
