This is Jay Accorsi's eighth season as head coach of the Rowan University football team. Accorsi is the seventh coach for the sport at the University. He took over the head position after nine years as an assistant coach with the Profs. Accorsi has guided Rowan to four appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, two trips to the national semifinals and four conference championships.

His coaching record stands at 59-20. Last year, Rowan posted an 8-2 record. In 2007, the Profs had a 4-6 mark. In 2006, Rowan finished the season with a 9-3 record. The Profs won their third consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship and fifth in six years and advanced to the quarterfinals of the national tournament. In 2005, Rowan had an 11-2 mark. The Profs won the NJAC Championship and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the second consecutive season. Accorsi was selected the NJAC Coach of the Year and received the Maxwell Football Club Tri-State Coach of the Year Award.

The Profs finished the 2004 season with a 10-3 record and they advanced to the semifinal game of the national tournament. The Profs had a record of 7-3 in 2003. In his first year, Accorsi guided the Profs to the conference title and their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The football team had a final record of 10-1 and Accorsi was selected the NJAC Coach of the Year.

For two years, Accorsi was the defensive coordinator. He switched over to the defensive side of the ball in 1995. Accorsi started with the Profs as a graduate assistant in 1993.

Prior to Rowan, Accorsi was an assistant football and baseball coach at Nichols College in Dudley, MA from 1989-93. He coached the wide receivers and quarterbacks. In baseball, Accorsi coached the outfielders and infielders. At Nichols, Accorsi also assisted the athletic director and was a dorm director while working on his master's degree.

Accorsi graduated from Nichols College (MA) in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He earned a master's in sports science from the U.S. Sports Academy (Daphne, AL) in 1992 and a master's in business administration from Rowan in 1997.

At Nichols, Accorsi was a running back for four years and was captain of the football team his senior year. A native of Somers, CT, Accorsi attended Somers High School and graduated in 1981. He lettered in football, wrestling and baseball.

He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the New Jersey Football Coaches Association (NJFCA). He is on the AFCA Football Rules, South Jersey Chapter of the National Football Foundation and NCAA Division III Regional Advisory committees. Accorsi served as a NCAA representative during the 2007 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. He is also a voting member of the AFCA Division III Coaches Poll and the NCAA Division III East Region Ranking Committee.

At Rowan, Accorsi has been an advisor for Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and served on the Campus Aesthetics and Environmental Concerns Committee. He has been involved with the Peer Referral Orientation and Staff (PROS) program and has represented the athletic department at freshman orientation.

Accorsi continually attends various high school and youth organization clinics and is a common presenter for a wide variety of clinics and organizations. He has been the guest speaker for the Touchdown Club of South Jersey and the Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club. In addition, Accorsi has been a speaker at the South Jersey Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame/Adam Taliaferro Foundation All-Star Banquet.

Accorsi resides in Mullica Hill, NJ with his wife Nancy and daughters, Gabrielle and Rachel and son, Jack.
