Deon Henry is entering his eighth season as an assistant coach. It is his third year as the director of operations and first as the head defensive line coach with a focus on the defensive ends. Henry previously worked with the Profs' cornerbacks. He also serves as the gunners’ and jammers’ coach on special teams.
 
The Profs' secondary flourished under Henry’s guidance. In 2012, 2013 and 2014, the Profs earned back-to-back New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships and three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Championship Tournament.
 
In 2015, Henry coached four NJAC All-Conference honorees. The Profs ranked 13th in the country in total defense and 10th in the country in interceptions.  The Profs were first in the NJAC in total defense, scoring defense, pass defense, pass defense efficiency, interceptions and red zone defense in 2015. In 2014, Henry coached four NJAC All-Conference honorees and one All-American honoree. During the 2014 season, Rowan’s defense ranked 18th in total defense in the NCAA while finishing first in the NJAC in scoring defense, total defense, rush defense, pass efficiency defense, turnovers gained and first downs given up.
 
In 2013, Rowan finished the season in the top three in the NJAC in total defense, rushing defense, pass defense efficiency and red zone defense.  That same year, Rowan finished first in the NJAC in interceptions with 18 total (eight by the secondary). In 2012, Henry coached two All-Conference safeties. Rowan was first in the NJAC in scoring defense (11.8 points per game), total defense (309.6 yards per game) and red zone defense (51.5%). The Profs finished second in pass defense efficiency and third in interceptions in the NJAC.
 
Previously, Henry served as an assistant football coach at Cumberland Regional High School (2004-05).  Prior to coaching high school and collegiate football, Henry served his community by coaching the youth programs in Millville (1996-98), Vineland (1999-2001) and Pittsgrove Township (2005-10).  Henry’s work at Rowan has not been limited to coaching football.  Henry has also assisted several student-athletes in securing internships to fulfill their academic responsibility and career goals for life after college.  Henry and his players have participated in several community events with local community organizations and schools.  In the summers of 2010-15, Henry worked summer camps with several Division I football programs, including the University of Pennsylvania, Lafayette College (Lauren’s First and Goal), Temple University, Villanova University, University of Delaware and Monmouth University.
 
Henry is a 1989 graduate of Millville Senior High School. He played cornerback/safety at Wesley College and Norfolk University.  He is also a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania where he earned his master’s in health and exercise science with a concentration in sports psychology. In February 2016, Henry participated in the NFL-NCAA Coaches Academy.  He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association where he serves on the Public Relations Committee and the Minority Issues Committee. He is also a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
