Andrew Kirkland joins the Rowan Football staff for the 2025 season where he will coordinate Special Teams and assist with the linebackers.

Last season, Kirkland was the defensive backs coach at Washington & Lee where he helped mold two All-ODAC and one D3football.com All-Region selections. Prior to W&L, he spent nine seasons at Division I Monmouth University where he was the linebackers coach. Kirkland was also the director of football operations for two seasons for the Hawks as well (2022, 2023).

Kirkland coached for three seasons at Colgate, his alma mater, where the Raiders captured a pair of Patriot League titles. He spent two of those seasons mentoring the defensive backs, a position he starred at for as a student-athlete. After spending 2013 working with the team's outside linebackers, Kirkland shifted back to the secondary in 2014. In his first year back with the Raiders, he helped coach Colgate to its eighth Patriot League Championship in 2012.

Kirkland has also spent time coaching at Wesleyan University in Connecticut for two seasons and one at King’s College.

He played defensive back for Colgate's 2005 Patriot League championship team before gaining his first coaching experience as a student assistant during his senior season, which he missed because of injury. Kirkland helped guide the Raiders to another Patriot League title that fall before moving on to King's in 2009.

Kirkland is a native of Voorhees, N.J., and played football at Eastern High School.
