Mark Benak is in his first year as an assistant coach for the Rowan University baseball team.

Benak played second base for the Profs from 2011-14. He set the single season record for doubles twice, hitting 21 in both 2013 and 2014 and ended his career tied for second with 51. Benak helped lead Rowan to back-to-back New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) titles in 2013 and 2014. A team captain his senior year, he was named to the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division II/III All-State first team and the D3baseball.com Mid-Atlantic All-Region second team. Benak was a two-time NJCBA Division II/III All-State second team selection and received All-Rookie Team honors during his freshman campaign.

A graduate of South Plainfield High School, Benak competed in baseball, basketball and cross country. He was a three-year varsity starter at shortstop for the Tigers. Benak holds the school record for most double plays in a season (21) and was a Greater Middlesex Conference All-Star in 2010.
