Juan Ranero enters his 14th season as head coach at Rowan University. His record with the Profs stands at 340-193-4 while his overall coaching record is 449-296-5. In addition, he is an assistant athletic director.

Last year, the Profs won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) after posting a 32-14 record and earned an automatic bid in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. It was the baseball team’s fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament. Ranero was named the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Coach of the Year. In 2012, Rowan compiled a 31-15 record, advanced to the conference tournament and received an at-large bid to the national tournament. Ranero captured his 400th career victory in an 8-7 win over Neumann University on March 28. In 2011, Rowan posted a 31-13-1 record. The Profs reached the NJAC Championship Tournament and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. In 2010, Rowan went 26-16-1 and advanced to the NJAC Championship and NCAA Championship Tournaments. Ranero was selected the NJAC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011.

In 2009, Rowan finished the season with a 21-15-1 record and reached the NJAC Championship Tournament. The Profs went 34-14 and made it to the final game of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament First Round in 2008. Ranero recorded his 300th career victory in a 9-4 win over Haverford College on April 22, 2008.

In 2007, Rowan posted a 23-17 record and advanced to the fourth round of the NJAC Championship Tournament. Ranero guided the Profs to a 30-15 record in 2006. Rowan received an at-large bid to the postseason tournament and reached the final of the NCAA Division III Regional.

This is Ranero's second stint as head coach at the University. He coached for five seasons from 1994 to 1998 and compiled a 112-74-1 record. In that time, Rowan advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament three times (1998-97-96). In 1997, he was named the NJAC Coach of the Year and received the Louisville Slugger Award for Excellence in Coaching.

Ranero returned to the University after four years at Division II Barry University (FL). He turned the Buccaneers into a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) contender. In 2005, he guided the baseball team to an overall record of 34-21 and a 12-12 SSC mark. The .618 winning percentage that year and in 2004 was the team’s best percentage since the Bucs advanced to the NCAA South Region final in 1998. Ranero had a record of 109-103-1 at the University.

Prior to Barry, Ranero was the head baseball coach and an instructor at Westminster Christian School for two years. He posted a 49-18 record and led the Warriors to two District Championships. The baseball team had a 28-7 record his last season and won its second straight district title before falling in the region final. In 2000, Westminister compiled a 21-11 record and won the district championship.
After the 1998 season, Ranero left Rowan to serve as recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at NCAA Division I Old Dominion University. Prior to coming to Rowan, he was an assistant baseball coach at Appalachian State University (NC) for four years. Ranero was also an assistant coach with the Yarmouth/Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League for six summers.

In addition, he has served as an assistant coach at Miami-Dade Community College-Kendall Campus (1989), Alfred B. Maclay School (Tallahassee, FL) (1988-89) and South Miami High School (1985-87). He graduated from Florida State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and earned his master’s in physical education at Appalachian State University in 1992.

Ranero transferred to Florida State after earning his associate’s from Miami-Dade Community College. He was a pitcher at Miami-Dade in 1984 and with the South Florida “Huskies” in the semi-pro baseball league in 1984-85.
