Home Runs by Davis and Schooley Push #5 Baseball Past RIT, 7-5, to Open NCAA Regional

GORHAM, ME - Home runs by Brayden Davis and Jason Schooley propeled #5 Rowan to a 7-5 win over RIT in the opening game of the 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Regional hosted by Southern Maine. The Profs (33-5) move on to play the winner of the Babson-USM matchup on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Davis drove in four runs on the day, going 2-for-3 and Schooley had two RBI in the victory. Damon Suriani and Evan McCoach each crossed the plate twice for the Profs.

Zach Coluccio (5-1) earned the win posting five strikeouts in 5.0 innings with Evan Brasberger pitching a strong 2.2 innings. Freshman Nick Watson earned his second save of the year keeping the Tigers from scoring in the top of the ninth.

Rowan took a 1-0 lead in the first, when Davis' sacrifice brought in McCoach, who led off the inning with a walk.

RIT knotted the score in the third inning on two hits and one Rowan error.

The Profs scored four in the bottom of the third, as Davis doubled down the left field line to bring home Suriani, who had doubled. Schooley then connected on his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot over the right field fence that allowed Davis to cross the plate and give Rowan a 5-1 lead.

Davis hit a solo shot to deep center over the 388-foot fence to up the Profs' lead to 6-1. It was the 12th homer of the season for the NJAC's Player of the Year.

RIT fought back getting three runs in the fifth to cut its deficit to 6-4. Rowan added another in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Nick Struble that brought home Suriani, maintaining a 7-4 lead. RIT added one more in the eighth to provide the final margin.

The Regional continues tomorrow with an elimination game between RIT and the loser of the Babson-USM game at 11 a.m. The Profs will play at 2:30 p.m. with an elimination game set at 6 p.m. for the two teams that have a loss.
