Davis Drives in Winning Runs as #7 Baseball Edges York, 2-1; Six Profs' Pitchers Contribute to the Win

Rice earns the victory and Brasberger picks up the save

GLASSBORO, NJ - Brayden Davis hit a two-run single in the eighth to lift #7 Rowan to a 2-1 win over York (PA) in a non-conference baseball matchup while five Profs' pitchers combined to post eight scoreless innings.

Trailing 1-0 since the second inning, the Profs struck in the seventh, Joey Bogart led off with a walk and Mason Dorsey advanced him to second on a sacrifice bunt. After Evan McCoach singled and Damon Suriani walked, the Profs had the bases loaded for Davis, who ranks third in the nation in slugging percentage (.903). The junior third baseman delivered with a single to left field that scored Bogart and McCoach with the winning runs.

Rowan used six pitchers in the game, starting with Miles DeVincentis, with relievers Jake Andrey, Dane Samartino, Christian Rice, Jack Norton and Evan Brasberger combining for eight scoreless innings and six strikeouts. Rice (4-0) earned the victory while Brasberger posted his third save of the season.

McCoach was the only Prof with multiple hits as he went 2-for-3 in the game.

York (11-15) took the early lead in the second after Brett Michael tripled and was brought home on a ground out by Joe Urban.

With Rowan leading, 2-1, the Spartans threatened in the top of the ninth by loading the bases, but Bogart made a diving play and threw out Richard Kline to end the game.

Rowan gets back into conference play on Thursday when it visits Rutgers-Camden and then hosts the Scarlet Raptors on Friday. The Profs will also host a doubleheader against Rutgers-Newark on Saturday for "Senior Day".
