GALLOWAY, NJ -
Damon Suriani and
Brayden Davis drove in three runs each as #7 Rowan held on to defeat Stockton, 12-8, in NJAC baseball action, as the Profs extended their winning streak to 10 while improving to 15-2 (4-0 NJAC). It also marks Rowan's second win over Stockton as the Profs notched a 9-4 decision in Thursday's meeting in Glassboro.
Davis,
Jason Schooley and
Joey Bogart each had two hits, although the Profs did not register an extra-base hit the entire game.
Kyle Lamanteer scored a team-hjgh four runs with Bogart crossing the plate three times.
Starter
Collin Denton (2-1) went 6.2 innings allowing just four hits to earn the win.
Jayson Dougherty,
Mark Grubb,
Nick Watson and
Shane Sax were able to close it out for the Profs.
A four-run second inning set the stage for the win as the Profs held a two-out rally and kept the bases loaded.
Damon Suriani drew a bases-loaded walk and then Davis hit a two-run single while
Ian Murphy reached on an error to bring home Suriani and the Profs had a quick 4-0 lead. Stockton got one back in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The Profs added two more in the fifth as Lamanteer crossed the plate after a safety squeeze by Dorsey. Bogart then scored on Suriani's sacrifice fly, upping the lead to 6-1.
Rowan added a run in the fifth when Lamanteer and Dorsey teamed up again, with Lamateer scoring when the senior reached base on an error as Rowan led, 7-1.
Stockton (4-15; 0-4) scored two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to pull within, 7-4. But the Profs added five runs in the ninth to give themselves a 12-4 cushion. Rowan took advantage of five walks/hit batters in the inning with
Jason Schooley and
Ian Murphy getting the only hits, RBI singles to lead the way.
The Ospreys made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth as they scored four runs but Sax was able to close out the game and the victory.
Rowan heads to Montclair State on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m.
