Schooley and Suriani Pace #5 Baseball's 11-1 Win at NJCU

Schooley homers and triples in the victory

JERSEY CITY, NJ - Jason Schooley had a home run and a triple, and Damon Suriani had three hits, including. a triple to lead #5 Rowan to an 11-1 win at New Jersey City in NJAC baseball action as the regular season winds down this week. Rowan is now 26-5 and 12-3 in the conference.
 
Schooley was 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored while Suriani had a 3-for-4 day with two RBI and a run. Nick Struble also had two hits for the Profs.
 
Starter Christian Rice (5-0) earned the win with five scoreless innings and five strikeouts. Jack Norton, Ben Schild, Evan Brasberger and Nick Watson each pitched an inning to finish the game with the Gothic Knights scoring their lone run in the bottom of the ninth.
 
Schooley started things off for the Profs in the second inning, with a two-run homer to score Ian Murphy, who led off being hit by a pitch. it was Schooley's second home run of the season.
 
Rowan scored five in the third with runs driven in on a triple by Suriani, a single from Struble, a double by Ian Murphy and Schooley's triple for a 7-0 lead. The Profs added two in the fifth on one hit and one NJCU (10-23-1; 2-13) error with Brett Chiesa driving in a run on a sacrifice fly.
 
Evan McCoach led off the sixth with a single and advanced to second on a base hit from Suriani, went to third on a flyout by Struble and scored when Suriani attempted to steal second to increase the lead to 10-0.
 
Rowan picked up its final run in the eighth as Mason Dorsey walked, stole second and came home on a double by Suriani.
 
The teams will play again on Friday at Rowan, with first pitch at 3:30 p.m. The Profs close out the regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader at William Paterson.
