Juiliano, Thomas, Troiano, and Giordano All Pick Up Honors in NJAC Player of the Week Awards

PITMAN, NJ -- The New Jersey Athletic Conference honored Mariah Juiliano, Ava Thomas, Johnny Troiano, and Olivia Giordano it is weekly awards for the week ending September 7th.

Juliano (Defensive Player of the Week) and Thomas (Rookie of the Week) earned accolades for NJAC Field Hockey while Troiano (Men's Soccer) and Giordano (Women's Soccer) scored their respective NJAC Offensive Player of the Week awards.

Juiliano, a senior goalie, totaled 21 saves in the Profs' 1-1 week. She made a season-high 11 saves in the 3-1 win over #22 Swarthmore as she faced 12 shots on goal and seven corners. Juiliano followed that with 10 stops in the 3-2 loss to #5 Johns Hopkins, while facing 11 Blue Jays' corners. On the season, she owns a goals against average of 1.33.

Thomas, a freshman forward, scored the insurance goal in the 3-1 win over #22 Swarthmore. After the Profs had gone up 2-1 in the 36th minute, she scored her first career goal at 44:29 to put the game out of reach.

The field hockey team, ranked 14th, is 2-1 and will host Stevens on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before heading on the road for three straight games.

Troiano had three goals in the Profs' 2-0 week of back-to-back road wins. He netted his second hat trick of the season, and the fourth of his career, in the 4-3 win at #25 Messiah. The senior surpassed 100 points for his career as he now has 42 goals and 17 assists (101 points) to rank seventh on the Profs' all-time list. He leads the squad with six goals on the year.

Men's soccer currently sits at 4-0 and will host SUNY-Cortland on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Giordano had two goals and an assist including the game-winning tally in the 85th minute in a 1-0 victory over the host Sea Gulls at the Salisbury Classic on Saturday. She then added a score and set up another in a 4-0 win over St. Mary's on Sunday. The senior currently leads the team in points (8) with three goals and two assists. Giordano also moved into fifth-place in the program's all-time scoring record books with 93 career points. She is seven points away from being the fifth player to reach 100 career points in team history.

Women's soccer (3-0) takes on Swarthmore following the men's game at 7 p.m. here on Wednesday as part of the 'White Out' games.
