Wiedeman, Giordano Key Women's Soccer's 3-0 Season-Opening Win at Albright

READING, PA -- Sara Wiedeman and Olivia Giordano sparked Rowan to a 3-0 season-opening win at Albright on Wednesday afternoon.

Wiedeman scored twice and added an assist and Giordano netted a goal and assisted on another as the Profs offense produced 29 shots, with 16 in the first half.

Wiedeman made it 1-0 in the 32nd minute off an assist from Giordano. Early in the second half, Wiedeman returned the favor and set up Giordano for a two-goal lead.

Cali Sloan drew the assist on Wiedeman's second goal on the day in the 77th minute to cap the scoring.

Goalies Leah Edinger and Gemma Keesler each played a half, as the duo totaled three saves to pick up the shutout. Lion keeper Paisley Tornatore recorded 15 stops.

Rowan will head to the Salisbury Classic this weekend where on Saturday, the Profs take on the host Sea Gulls, while Sunday features a matchup with St. Mary's. The home opener takes place on Wednesday, September 10th against Swarthmore at 7 p.m. where the contest is part of the "White Out" Soccer Doubleheader with the men's team taking on SUNY-Cortland earlier at 4 p.m. A double dose of Prof Soccer, the first 100 Rowan students at each game receive a FREE t-shirt.
