#13 Baseball Falls to TCNJ, 6-4, to End NJAC Tournament Run

Profs will await the NCAA Regionals selection on Monday

CAMDEN, NJ - #13 Rowan rallied in the late innings but it wasn't enough as the second-seeded Profs fell to third-seeded TCNJ, 6-4, and were eliminated from the NJAC Baseball Championship held at Rutgers-Camden. The Profs (31-10) will no3 await the selections for the NCAA Regionals that will be announced on Monday at noon on NCAA.com.
 
NJAC Rookie of the Year Damon Suriani went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Eric Sabato was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Phil Sedalis picked up two hits for Rowan.
 
Steven Maiers (5-2) went 6.0 innings and struck out six, but was saddled with the loss. Christian Rice, Mark Grubb and Brayden Davis threw the final three innings for Rowan, most of which were played in steady rain.
 
Sabato started the scoring for Rowan as his second-inning single brought home Suriani, who had singled.
 
TCNJ tied the game in its next at bat, and then in the fourth inning, Andrew Fernandez clubbed a three-run homer to give the Lions a 4-1 lead.
 
The Lions added another on a solo home run by Gianni Marano in the seventh, but Rowan got one back to trail, 5-2, as Tyler Cannon walked and scored as Jason Morgan hit one deep and the right fielder missed the catch.
 
TCNJ picked up another insurance run int he eighth inning, while the Profs scored twice to pull within, 6-4. Rowan loaded the bases and Suriani scored on a wild pitch. Karson Harcourt hit a foul ball down the right field line for a sacrifice fly that scored Davis.
 
Rowan couldn't finish the comeback in the ninth as reliever Evan Frank retired the side to earn the save and put TCNJ into the championship series with Rutgers-Camden.
 
The Profs will be seeking their seventh straight berth in the NCAA Regionals under head coach Mike Dickson.
