Profs get homers from Sedalis, Davis and Suriani

ALLIANCE, OHIO - Karson Harcourt and Phil Sedalis each had five RBI as #15 Rowan's offense exploded for a 26-9 win over Catholic in the second day of the NCAA Mount Union Baseball Regional. Rowan remains in the winner's bracket and needs just one victory to claim the Regional title. The Profs will take on the winner of Mount Union versus Catholic on Sunday at 11 a.m. for the crown and a trip to the Super Regional.

Rowan recorded season-highs of 25 hits and 26 runs while it was the second time this season that the Profs scored 12 runs in one inning, matching the 21-4 win over Montclair State on April 5.

Harcourt went 4-for-5 with three runs and two doubles while Sedalis (3-for-6) scored three times. Jason Morgan (3-for-6) scored twice and knocked in four runs, while Tyler Cannon (3-for-6) scored four runs and drove in two.

Starter Steven Maiers (6-2) threw 6.0 innings and posted six strikeouts, with Charlie Russell and Jack Norton finishing out the game, which lasted just under four hours.

Catholic struck first with a two-run homer from Mitchel Johnson in its first at-bat, but then the Profs got started and couldn't be stopped, scoring eight runs in their half of the inning. After Cannon led off with a single, Sedalis used one swing to tie the game with a two-run homer. Marco Mannino and Damon Suriani reached base and Brayden Davis connected on a three-run home run. Harcourt and Sedalis each hit RBI doubles and Cannon drove in one run with a single to complete the scoring, with Rowan holding an 8-2 lead.

The Cardinals got two back in the second but Rowan added three more in the bottom half as Harcourt cleared the bases with his second double of the game, upping the lead to 11-4.

After Catholic countered with two more, Rowan exploded for 12 runs on 10 hits. Morgan and Suriani each drove in three runs in the inning, with Suriani sending one over the fence for a two-run shot. Sedalis knocked in two with a double while Cannon, Joey Bogart and Harcourt each hit RBI singles as Rowan took a commanding 23-6 advantage.

A ground out RBI by Morgan that scored Serrano accounted for the 24th run and Nick Struble stroked a two-run double, which scored Mason Dorsey and Serrano for Rowan's final runs of the game.
