NEWARK, NJ -
Phil Sedalis drove in four runs and
Zach Coluccio earned his sixth win as #18 Rowan defeated Rutgers-Newark, 10-6, in the first of an NJAC baseball two-game series. The Profs (26-8; 11-4) have won eight in a row as they are in the final week of the regular season.
Sedalis was 2-for-5 at the plate and scored one run with
Damon Suriani was also 2-for-5 with two runs while
Joey Bogart and
Marco Mannino each had two RBI.
Coluccio (6-0) was one out short of a complete game as he went 8.2 innings with eight strikeouts.
Christian Rice recorded the last out to preserve the win.Â
A five-run second inning pushed the Profs ahead early.
Tyler Cannon started it off by drawing a bases-loaded walk and Sedalis cleared the bases with a three-run double. Mannino drove in the fifth run with a single to bring home Sedalis.
Joey Bogart added one in the third as his sacrifice fly scored Suriani as Rowan was up, 6-0.
Rutgers-Newark scored twice in the sixth inning to cut its deficit to 6-2, but the Profs added three runs in the eighth.

Karson Harcourt, giving Rowan a 9-2 lead.
The Profs added one more in the ninth as Bogart hit a single to score
Brayden Davis.
Rutgers-Newark made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth as they scored four runs and loaded the bases, before Rice was able to get the final out and secure the win.
The teams will finish the two-game series tomorrow in Glassboro at 3:30 p.m. in the Profs' final regular-season home game. Rowan closes out the regular season with a doubleheader on Saturday at NJCU.Â
