Cannon, Sedalis Pace #23 Baseball to 8-2 Win at Hampden-Sydney in the Season-Opening Series

Sedalis becomes Rowan's career leader in triples

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Tyler Cannon drove in three runs and Phil Sedalis had three hits to lead #23 Rowan over Hampden-Sydney, 8-2, in baseball action, as the Profs (2-1) won two in the three-game weekend series.

Cannon and Sedalis each had a double and a triple on the day, while Sedalis became Rowan's all-time leader in career triples with 15. Karson Harcourt also picked up two hits and Marco Mannino scored two runs.

Mark Grubb posted his first career victory in relief of starter Zach Coluccio, who went 4.0 innings and struck out three. Grubb tossed two innings and struck out three while keeping the Tigers off the board.

HS-C (3-6) struck first with a run in the first inning and the Profs answered with three in the second. Kevin Cole drove in Harcourt with a single and Cannon added a two-run double to put Rowan ahead, 3-1.

Back-to-back triples by Cannon and Sedalis in the fourth extended Rowan's lead to 5-1. The Profs scored again in the fifth on consecutive doubles by Damon Suriani and Harcourt.

The Tigers got one back in the seventh but Rowan closed it out with two in the eighth. Sedalis doubled and eventually scored on a bunt by Brayden Davis, with Jason Schooley driving in the final run as he singled to score Jason Morgan.

Rowan will play its home opener on Wednesday, March 5 against John Jay in a 3 p.m. start.
