Bookman and Martin Help Football to 47-34 Win at Kean in Regular-Season Finale

Profs will await a possible selection to an ECAC Bowl Game

UNION, NJ - Tyshawn Bookman and Shane Martin had two touchdowns each as Rowan held off Kean, 47-34, in the NJAC regular-season finale for both teams. The win is Rowan's third straight, giving them a 7-3-1 record.
 
The Profs will now await a possible bid to continue their season in an ECAC Division III Bowl game, which will be announced on Monday at noon.
 
Bookman rushed for 41 yards and the two scores with Martin notching two touchdown receptions and picking up 99 yards. Matt Welsey was 8-for-11, passing for 125 yards and two touchdowns with fellow quarterback Nate Maiers completing 12 passes for 137 yards. Nunes Bukula IV gained 51 yards on the ground as Rowan recorded 339 yards of total offense.
 
The Profs jumped out to a 27-0 lead, in the second quarter. Bukula scored from 11 yards out on the first drive as a Kean interception was negated by a roughing-the-passer call, but the Profs missed the extra point. The next Rowan drive when 74 yards culminating in an 8-yard run by Bookman for a 13-0 lead.
 
Bookman had a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and then Bukula had a 51-yard punt return for a touchdown to give Rowan a 27-0 lead with 4:39 remaining in the first half.
 
Kean got on the board minutes later but the Profs extended the lead to 34-6 with :57 before halftime as Jamir Rowe ran back the kickoff for 85 yards.
 
The Cougars opened the second half with a pair of scores to cut the deficit to 34-20.
 
Rowan answered with back-to-back touchdown receptions by Martin He caught a 22-yard pass from Welsey to cap a 66-yard drive with 1:34 left in the third quarter, and then had a 50-yard reception as the third-quarter clock expired to give Rowan a 47-20 lead.
 
Kean (3-7; 2-5) closed out the scoring with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including one with 53 seconds remaining.
