PITMAN, NJ -- The New Jersey Athletic Conference honored
Jaeden Everett,
Sydney Kowalczyk,
Johnny Troiano, and
MaKala Baker in its weekly award program for the week ending October 27th.
Everett picked up the NJAC Football Defensive Rookie of the Week honor as the freshman had an 11-yard interception return for a touchdown and added two tackles in Saturday's 31-28 setback to #4 Salisbury. On the season, Everett has seen action in four games and has totaled four tackles.
Kowalczyk was named the NJAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. Last week, the freshman notched her first career hat trick in the 7-0 win over William Paterson, scoring the first three goals of the game in a span of four minutes. With that win, the #14 Profs clinched the NJAC regular-season championship for the fifth consecutive year. The rookie now has 17 goals on the season with five multiple-goal games.Â
Troiano earns his second NJAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week accolade as the senior totaled three goals in the Profs' two victories. He scored the first goal and eventual game-winner in the 2-0 win at Kean and then followed that with two goals in the 4-2 victory at Ramapo. Troiano has 16 goals, matching his career-high set last season.Â
Baker takes home the NJAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this year. The sophomore spearheaded a defense that posted two shutouts while not allowing a shot on goal with wins over Kean (6-0) and Ramapo (3-0). The Profs have posted 11 clean sheets out of its 15 games this season.
The football team (4-2-1, 2-2 NJAC) heads to TCNJ this Saturday to take on the Lions in conference action.
Field Hockey (13-4, 5-0 NJAC) had their eight-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 loss to top-ranked and undefeated Christopher Newport. They will close out the regular season this week, heading to #4 Salisbury on Wednesday and hosting Montclair State on Saturday.Â
Men's Soccer (11-3-4, 4-2-2 NJAC) has won two in a row and closes out the regular season on Wednesday by hosting TCNJ.Â
Women's Soccer (13-1-1, 7-0-1 NJAC) also caps its regular season on Wednesday with a contest at TCNJ. With a win, the Profs can lock up the top seed in the conference tournament.
