Weisler, Baker, Sheehan, Haddad, Cornell, and Stauffer Honored in Weekly Awards by the NJAC

PITMAN, NJ -- Sophia Weisler, MaKala Baker, Braden Sheehan, Benjamin Haddad, Rhylee Cornell, Peyton Stauffer all scored honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference in its weekly awards for the week ending October 12th.

Weisler had two goals and an assist to capture the NJAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week honors as the #16 Profs defeated Stockton, 5-4, to open conference play last Wednesday. The freshman scored the Profs' first goal of the game and then assisted on the second. With the Profs trailing, 4-3, she scored the tying goal with the eventual gamewinner  coming just two minutes later. Weisler now has three goals on the season.

Baker earned NJAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week accolades as the sophomore was instrumental in two wins last week including an upset of Division III's top ranked team. On Wednesday in that 2-1 victory over #1 Messiah, Baker keyed the defense in shutting out the Falcons in the second half. She then led the backline in a 3-0 win over WPU on Saturday as the defense did not allow a shot for the #17th-ranked Profs.

Both the men's and women's swim teams took home a total of four weekly honors.

Sheehan (NJAC Men's Swimmer of the Week) and Haddad (NJAC Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week) helped lead the men to a 140.5-121.5 win over Stevens in the season opener on Saturday. Sheehan captured two individual events and as a member a relay squad. The junior won the 100 free (47.50) and 200 free (1:44.43) and was part of the 200 free relay (1:28.34). Haddad claimed the 200 fly (1:58.02) and took third in the 100 fly (52.90) in his first collegiate meet.

On the women's side, Cornell (NJAC Women's Swimmer of the Week) and Stauffer (NJAC Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week) did the same in the Profs' season-opening 175-87 victory over the Ducks. Cornell won two individual events and a relay on Saturday as the sophomore was the top finisher in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.49) and 200 breaststroke (2:29.79) and 200 medley relay (1:53.20). Stauffer was tops in the 100 Free (55.69) and took fifth in the 200 free (2:04.75).

Field Hockey (10-3, 2-0 NJAC) is in the midst of a six-game winning streak and heads to rival TCNJ on Wednesday afternoon before kicking off Homecoming weekend against Kean on Friday evening.

Women's Soccer (10-1, 4-0 NJAC), also on a six-game win streak, plays at Stockton Wednesday and Montclair State on Saturday.

The men's (1-0) and women's (1-0) swimming teams will travel to Montclair State on Friday evening.
