Allie Palumbo scored two goals as Rowan (3-3) defeated Catholic, 6-1, for the Profs' highest offensive output of the year. It was the Profs' home opener, after they started the year with five straight games on the road.
Game Highlights
After a scoreless first quarter, the teams combined for four goals in six minutes.
Tess Herman scored Rowan's first goal of the year on its home turf at 20:29 as she took a shot and then collected the rebound and put it in the cage from 10 yards out.
Kaylee Wenzel set up the next goal a minute later when she carried the ball down the sideline and fed it to
Sidney Pavlishin, who scored from close range.
Catholic (2-4) got on the board with one from Nikki Micciche. Rowan upped it to 3-1 when
Jenna Gray sent a lead pass to Palumbo, who scooped it into the cage at 26:21. Palumbo scored her second off a corner at the start of the third quarter with the assist from
Paige Gray.
Freshman
Mia Foti scored on a corner in the fourth quarter, assisted by
Gracie Merrick, and freshman
Abby Goblirsch tallied the first goal of her career, assisted by
Kylie Elwell, to close out the scoring.
Rowan outshot the Cardinals, 20-5, and the Profs' keeper,
Mariah Juiliano, made four saves.
It marked the first of a five-game homestand for Rowan, and the Profs will host Haverford on Saturday at noon.
