Stewart, Shannon Help Lead #19 Baseball to a 10-0 NJAC Win over Rutgers-Newark

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Freshman Kevin Stewart was 3-for-3 with three RBI and starter Mike Shannon tossed eight scoreless innings as #19 Rowan won its third in a row in the Profs' 10-0 NJAC victory over Rutgers-Newark on Thursday.

Game Highlights

Phil Sedalis and Dylan Maria each had two hits while Chris Serrano and Pat Defeciani knocked in two runs apiece, as the Profs remain in the sixth and final playoff spot with three regular season games to play.

Shannon allowed just four hits while striking out three and allowing zero walks, extending his scoreless streak to 22 innings.

Stewart put the Profs on the board in the second with a two-run, two-out single to plate Karson Harcourt and Jason Morgan. Serrano's two-run single in the third was part of a four-run frame to increase the lead to 6-0.

From there Shannon yielded just three baserunners over the next four innings to raise his record to 6-2. Rookie Jaxon Casdia finished the ninth to give Rowan its sixth victory in its last seven contests. Stewart doubled in Serrano in the sixth and would later score on a sac fly from Defeciani.

Morgan would tie a personal best with three runs on the day. Stewart and Harcourt each scored twice.

Robert Gonzalez had two of the four hits for the Scarlet Raiders. Starter Connor Baksh took the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in three innings.

The two teams meet tomorrow in Newark with first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m.
