Sedalis, Cannon and Shannon Pace #7 Baseball to 11-5 Win over Neumann in Home Opener

GLASSBORO, NJ – Phil Sedalis had four hits and Tyler Cannon had three doubles, with Mike Shannon picking up his third win, as #7 Rowan won its home opener, defeating Neumann, 11-5. The Profs are now 11-2 on the season.

Game Highlights

Sedalis, the All-American centerfielder, went 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI, posting two singles, a double and a triple. Cannon, last year's NCAA leader in doubles, added three to his total while scoring two runs and driving in another. Dylan Maria and Mason Dorsey each added two hits apiece for the Profs.

Shannon (3-0) earned the victory as he went 7.0 innings and struck out five. Jaxon Casdia threw one inning in relief and Sean Colbert closed it out in the ninth.

Neumann opened the scoring with one in the first inning and Rowan answered with back-to-back doubles by Cannon and Sedalis and an RBI single by Maria.

The Profs scored three in the third taking advantage of two Neumann errors. Sedalis, Anthony Schooley and Jason Morgan each scored as the Profs went up, 5-1. Rowan added three more in the fourth as Cannon doubled, Sedalis hit a triple and Schooley singled. Morgan then brought home Schooley with a singled as the Profs led, 8-1.

Neumann picked up three runs in the seventh to pull within, 8-4, but the Profs matched them scoring three runs on two hits and one error.  Cannon had a sacrifice fly, Nick Struble scored on a wild pitch and Sedalis singled to bring home Dorsey and Rowan held an 11-4 lead.

The Knights would get one more in the eighth, on a solo home run by Andrew Curran, but Colbert was able to close out the victory.

Rowan is back in action on Friday at Swarthmore for a single game at 3:30 p.m. as Saturday's doubleheader has been canceled due to the weather forecast.
