AUBURNDALE, FL - Freshman
Joey Bogart drove in three runs and
Jason Morgan and
Dylan Maria had two RBI apiece as #10 Rowan won its seventh in a row, defeating Ohio Northern, 7-3, in baseball action at the RussM Invitational this morning. The Profs are now 7-1 on the year.
Bogart was 1-for-3 and Maria was 1-for-2 as he hit his eighth home run of the season.
Jason Morgan had a double and
Karson Harcourt had two hits for the Profs.
Mike Shannon picked up his second win of the year going 5.0 innings with three strikeouts. The Profs' relievers shut down the Polar Bears the rest of the way as
Charlie Russell tossed one scoreless inning and
Sean Colbert closed out the final 2.2 as he struck out two.
Bogart gave the Profs a 2-0 lead in the second inning as he doubled in
Pat Defeciani and Maria. Rowan held that until the top of the fifth when Ohio Northern (4-5) scored three by stringing together four hits, including two doubles to take a 3-2 lead.
Rowan didn't waste any time regaining the lead and scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a two-run double by Morgan and a two-run homer from Maria to go up, 7-3.
The Profs added one more in the eighth as
Nick Struble doubled, advanced on a single by Harcourt and scored when Bogart laid down a sacrifice bunt that allowed Struble to score.
Rowan is back at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport on Wednesday for a Top 25 matchup with #7 Wisconsin-La Crosse at 3:45 p.m.
