Fara Has Career Day, But Football Downed by #9 Johns Hopkins, 55-20

GLASSBORO, NJ -- James Fara rumbled for a career-high 203 yards and added a pair of touchdowns on the ground, but it was #9 Johns Hopkins leaving Coach Richard Wackar Stadium with a 55-20 over the Profs on Saturday.

Fara, who had 23 carries on the day, ripped off a 74-yard scoring run, another personal best, in the second quarter. Tyshawn Bookman added 29 yards on eight attempts, but the passing game was limited 125 yards as quarterback Thomas Goldsborough was 14-of-25 with a TD but was sacked six times.

The Blue Jays; Bay Harvey threw for 310 yards and five touchdowns and added another rushing as Johns Hopkins also added 151 yards in the running game as well.

Defensively, Joe Racobaldo and Vincent Guarino each led the Profs with seven tackles. Eric Bryant added an interception for the third-straight game and Jason Blanks had a pair of pass breakups.

Johns Hopkins took the opening kickoff and went seven plays as Harvey found Will Leger on an eight-yard pass for the game's first score. Rowan's first offensive series had the team deep in JHU territory, but on a fourth and 8 from the Blue Jay 29, Goldsborough was sacked for a turnover on downs. Geoff Schroeder made it 14-0 as his five-yard TD with 3:52 in the first capped a 10-play drive of over five minutes in the frame.

Bryant's interception gave Rowan prime field position at the Hopkins 27-yard line. Two plays later, Fara scored the first of his two TDs on a nice 17-yard effort early in the second quarter to get the home team on the board.

The Blue Jays scored on its next two possessions to go up 28-6 before Fara busted free through the middle then down the right sideline on a 1st and 10 from the Rowan 26 for his longest career run to try and get the Profs back in the contest, but on the ensuing kickoff, PJ Scales ran it back 92 yards for a score.

Goldsborough hit Marlon Boston on a 15-yard pass in the end zone right before the half, but Rowan faced a 41-20 deficit going into the locker room.

Bay would connect on scoring passes of 56 yards (to Andrew Rich) and 20 yards (to Cole Crotty) in the third to add to its lead. There was no scoring in the fourth quarter.

Crotty led JHU with seven catches for 93 yards. Leger had three grabs, with two going for TDs for the Blue Jays. Oliver Craddock recorded eight stops, with a sack and a tackle for loss.

Rowan will open New Jersey Athletic Conference play next weekend when the team heads to TCNJ next Saturday in a 3 p.m. start.
