#19 Baseball Sweeps Series with NJCU, 10-3, Helped by Triples from Morgan and Sedalis

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Jason Morgan's two-run triple in the eighth inning broke open the game and gave #19 Rowan baseball a 10-3 win over NJCU as the Profs swept the two-game series with the Gothic Knights. Matt Choi (4-0) earned the win as Rowan improved to 15-6 (2-2 NJAC).

Phil Sedalis, who also had a triple, drove in two runs for the Profs, as did Chris Curcio and Pat Defeciani. Curcio went 3-for-5 in the game while Mason Dorsey was 2-for-4.

Choi went six innings and scattered six hits, but relievers Sean Colbert and Ryan Iovine kept NJCU scoreless in the final three innings.

Defeciani gave Rowan a 2-0 lead with his first-inning double that scored Dylan Maria and Tyler Cannon. The score remained the same until the sixth when Maria singled and Anthony Schooley scored on an NJCU error to give Rowan a 3-0 lead.

NJCU (10-11: 1-3 NJAC) scored all of its runs in the sixth with a two-run single from Garret Allo, who eventually scored on a passed ball.

Sedalis hit his second triple in as many games in the seventh, that brought home Dorsey and Morgan, and gave the Profs a 5-3 lead.

Curcio got the Profs going in the eighth with a single that scored Maria, setting the stage for Morgan's trip that scored Curcio and Defeciani, and increased Rowan's lead to 8-3. Morgan scored when Dorsey reached on an error and the Profs had a 9-3 advantage.

Rowan closed out the scoring in the top of the ninth when Curcio singled to bring home Schooley.

The Profs will face #21 Montclair State in a Top 25 showdown on Saturday at the Rowan Baseball Field in an NJAC doubleheader. First pitch is at 11:30 a.m.
