GALLOWAY, NJ- Rowan scored 16 runs on 16 hits, led by three each from
Anthony Schooley and
Chris Curcio, as the #7 Profs defeated Stockton, 16-7, in NJAC baseball action on the road. Rowan (28-6; 14-2 NJAC) took a 10-0 lead in winning their seventh game in a row.
Schooley was 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run while Curcio went 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBI.
Patrick Defeciani scored three runs and had two RBI with
Tyler Cannon getting two hits, including his first home run as a Prof.
Mike Miles (2-1) went 6.0 innings and struck out seven to earn the win.
Ryan Bush,
Patrick Sudnikovich and
David Levin preserved the win in relief.
Offensively, Rowan didn't waste any time, scoring five runs in the first, as Defeciani's triple brought home
Ryan Murphy and Curcio. Schooley had an RBI single and then Cannon connected on the two-run home run to left center.
The Profs added three more in the next inning as Curcio doubled to score
Trip McCaffrey, Curcio crossed the plate on a passed ball and Schooley had another RBI, with a double, as they went up 8-0.
Curcio knocked in his second run of the day with a single to bring home
Eric DiDomenico, for a 9-0 Rowan lead.
Schooley's sacrifice fly brought home Murphy in the sixth while
Hunter Wroniuk hit his third double in two games with a two-run hit that scored
Brandon Shine and
Ryan Mostrangeli as the Profs increased the advantage to 12-0.
Stockton (16-21-1) got on the board in the seventh, getting four runs on six hits. Rowan answered with another in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Shine to hold a 13-4 lead, before the Ospreys added three more in the eighth inning.
Rowan finished it out in the ninth with a pair of runs, as McCaffrey scored on a passed ball and Mostrangeli connected on a two-run single.
The Profs close out the regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader against #16 Kean beginning at 12:30 p.m. (note new time). Rowan's seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony beginning at noon while the Profs will be looking to clinch the top seed in next week's NJAC Championship.
