Wroniuk, Mostrangeli, O'Neill Lead #7 Baseball Past Rutgers-Camden, 10-2

GLASSBORO, NJ - Hunter Wroniuk went 3-for-4 and scored two runs while Ryan Mostrangeli hit a two-run home run as #7 Rowan defeated Rutgers-Camden, 10-2, in NJAC baseball action. The Profs improve to 24-6 and 9-2 in the league.

Starter Jason O'Neill upped his record to 6-1 going 6.2 innings, and allowing just four hits, while striking out two. Mike Shannon finished out the game, striking out three and not allowing any hits in 2.1 innings.

Wroniuk hit two doubles on the day while Mostrangeli went 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI and Patrick Defeciani went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI to lead the Profs. Rowan pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of four errors by Rutgers.

The Profs didn't waste any time jumping to the lead as Defeciani doubled in the first inning to score Ryan Murphy. Mostrangeli followed with a two-run home run, his seventh of the season, to put the Profs up 3-0. Trip McCaffrey closed out the inning, as his single brought home Dylan Maria.

Rowan got four more in the fourth inning, helped by a Rutgers error, on RBI singles from Chris Curcio, Mostrangeli and Anthony Schooley, to take an 8-0 lead.

It took Rutgers-Camden (17-16; 4-8) until the sixth inning to get on the board off O'Neill, on a ground out by Andrew Brown that scored Auggie Uzdonavics. The Scarlet Raptors stranded one on base as O'Neill closed out the inning with his second strikeout of the game.

The visitors added one more in the seventh off O'Neill when Danny Vazquez' fielder's choice brought a run home.

Rowan countered with two more in the bottom of the seventh when Marco Mannino had a bunt single and Wroniuk eventually scored on an error. Defeciani drove in one more as his fielder's choice scored Trip McCaffrey.

Rowan closes out its stretch of five games in four days on Saturday with a doubleheader at Rutgers-Newark.
