ROSEMONT, PA –
Emily August struck out a career-high 13 batters in firing a two-hit shutout in game one and Rowan rallied in game two take a sweep at Rosemont on Tuesday afternoon.
August allowed just two hits and did not allow a baserunner after the fourth inning for her fourth win of the year in a 9-0 win in game one. The Profs totaled 15 hits while erasing an early deficit for a 13-9 decision in the nightcap.
Cat Thomas went 2-for-4 including a two-run home run as part of a four-run seventh in the first game.
Grace Shukaitis,
Breanna Bryant and
Devyn DiPasquale also added two hits each.
Shukaitis put the Profs on the board in the second with a two-out, two-run single. A key error in the fourth allowed three runs to cross in the fourth for a 5-0 lead. With the bases loaded, a ball hit to hit to right field off the bat of
McKenzie Melvin was misplayed, allowing all three runners to score.
Thomas, who went deep for the first time this season, knocked home
Morgan Zane in that seventh. Zane reached on a double to score
Gabbie Fonollosa.
