Eight Profs Earn All-NJAC Football Honors; Gantt, Fara, Husni, Maldonado All Named First Team

PITMAN, NJ -- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its 2022 all-conference teams and year-end awards that features eight Profs among its ranks.

First-team selections include Ahmad Gantt, James Fara, Mike Husni, and John Maldonado. Clem Carfaro and Jake Hurler were named to the second team, while CJ Barrett and Mike Mascioli earned honorable mention accolades.

Fara and Maldonado were voted to the first team for the second-straight season, while Husni, Barrett, and Mascioli picked up all-league honors for the second time. Gantt, Hurler, and Carfaro all scored their first postseason awards.

Fara led the team in rushing, totaling 935 yards on 199 carries while scoring six touchdowns. He was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading Rowan to a 27-7 win over Montclair State on November 5th after racking up 124 yards on the ground on just 19 carries with a score.

Maldonado is the conference leader in receptions (56), yards (836), and touchdowns (11). His best game this season was a three-touchdown performance against Springfield on September 11 where he caught nine passes for 115 yards to earn the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Husni threw for 1,666 yards on 129-of-233 (57%) passing with a conference-leading 18 touchdowns through the air. On the ground, the senior registered 335 yards on 88 carries along with five rushing touchdowns. In the final game of the season last Friday against New England, Husni threw for three touchdowns and ran for a career-best 107 yards in the 38-20 victory.

Gantt led the team in tackles (51), tackles for losses (8.5) and tied for the team lead in sacks (3.0) and quarterback hurries (3). He collected a personal-best 10 tackles in the win over Springfield on September 11th. In the game at Christopher Newport on October 1st, the junior racked up seven stops, four tackles for losses, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

Carfaro was part of an offensive line the churned out 335 yards a game including an average of 168 yards on the ground. In two games this season (Widener & New England), the o-line put together a 200-yard plus output en route to those two victories.

Hurler was 8-of-12 on field goals this season and turned in a career-best 41-yard boot in the season finale against New England. However, his most important kick of the year came on October 7th as his 36-yarder was the game winner in a 23-21 walkoff victory over TCNJ.

Barrett posted career highs in receptions (33) and yards (330) and tied a personal best with two scores this season. The senior tied a personal-best with 10 grabs to finish with 63 yards against Salve Regina.

Mascioli was limited to six games this in 2022, but still put up 37 tackles. His 14 tackles against New England in the season finale tied a career high for the senior.
