GLASSBORO, NJ --
Nina Carlson capped Senior Day by scoring with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation to help Rowan knock off #10 Montclair State, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.
Goalie
Calista Burke recorded two second-half saves as the Profs recorded the sixth shutout in a row and seventh on the season.
Prior to today's contest, the team and coaching staff took time to recognize the team's two seniors, Carlson and
Natalie Pantalone, along with their families.
Carlson netted the game's lone tally in the 80th minute as she worked her way into the left side of the box, and was able to get through a pair of defenders and fire off her sixth tally on the year.
The Prof defense limited the Red Hawks to three shots in the second half, down from six in the first 45 minutes. Rowan put together five chances, all coming after halftime.
Burke extinguished a Montclair scoring chance early in the first half as she fought through traffic on a long cross to snare the ball away from any danger.
The Red Hawks' Haley Martin returned the favor in the 70th minute as she snuffed out a Prof opportunity from
Gabby Dean off a cross into the front of the box. Montclair had a look in the ninth minute and a last-ditch attempt with seconds to play, but both shots were wide.
Rowan returns to action on Wednesday when the Profs head to Rutgers-Camden in a NJAC contest at 7 p.m.
