GLASSBORO, NJ – The top seed Rowan swept #8 Ramapo, 3-0 and 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Softball Championship Tournament.
The Profs (27-5) host the fourth seed Kean in the semifinals on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7 and 8 in a best of three series. The games on Tuesday are at 2 and 5 p.m. and the if necessary game on Wednesday is at 4 p.m.
Kean (23-7) defeated #5 William Paterson, 5-1 and 4-3 in the quarterfinals. Ramapo advanced from the first round with a 4-1 win over #9 Rutgers-Newark. The championship is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15.

August pitched a complete game for the win in the first game. She only allowed one hit and recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts.
First baseman
Mackenzie Short contributed with two hits and one RBI. Center fielder
Sarah Brosman had two RBI with two sacrifice flies. Designated player
Kelly Duffy and right fielder
Mariah Wysocki each chipped in with one hit and one run.
The Profs scored two runs in the second inning. Short had a base hit that dribbled down the first base line and Hague scored from second base. Hague walked and went to second on Wysocki's single. Wysocki came home on Brosman's sac fly. In the fourth, Duffy led off with a double to left field and she advanced to third on Short's single. Brosman flied out to center field, scoring Duffy.
In the second contest, catcher
Korie Hague recorded a two run homer to give Rowan a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning. Pinch runner Sarah Marasheski crossed the plate on left fielder Moran Zane's ground out in the seventh.
Zane ended the game with a double, a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Second baseman
Sonia Sharma had two hits and one run scored. Third baseman
Breanna Bryant registered two hits and scored one run.
August earned her second win on the day in relief. She (14-2) went 5.1 innings and gave up three hits.
In the first inning, Zane knocked in Sharma with a blast over the left center field fence. The Roadrunners went up 3-2 in the second inning. Designated player Anna Messina, shortstop Krista Verrino and second baseman Carli Egan all had RBI singles. Bryant tied the score when she scored on a wild pitch in the third inning.
Pitcher Mahogany Wheeler, Messina and Verrino had two hits apiece. Left fielder Carley Layton and center fielder Thu Deo each registered one hit and one run.
This is Rowan's 31
st appearance in the conference tournament and 17
th straight. The softball team has been the NJAC champion 10 times (2018, 2016, 2014, 2012, 2002, 2001, 1998, 1994, 1990, 1983).
