Schooley, Zellman Help #7 Baseball to 6-3 Win over St. John Fisher in NCAA Regional; Kokos Ties Record for Career Hits

MARIETTA, OHIO - Senior Nick Schooley drove in four runs and Ryan McIsaac had four hits to help No. 7 Rowan rally from a 2-0 deficit to defeat No. 16 St. John Fisher, 6-3, in the Profs' second game of the NCAA Regional at Pioneer Park.  The Profs are 2-0 in the regional and will face the winner of the Marietta-North Carolina Wesleyan game on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Senior second baseman Alex Kokos had three hits in the game to tie the Rowan record for hits in a career (228), which he shares with Mike Rucci '05.

Schooley was 3-for-5 in the game with a double and four RBI, with McIsaac going 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored.

Donald Zellman (5-0) earned the win for the Profs as he struck out six in 6.1 innings of work. Jason O'Neill relieved him and kept SJF scoreless, with closer Zach Listro pitching the ninth and recording his career-high sixth save of the season

St. John Fisher struck first in the contest, thanks to a pair of solo home runs by Adam Zebrowski, one in the second inning and another in the fourth as the Cardinals took a 2-0 lead.

Rowan got on the board in the sixth inning as the Profs got consecutive singles by Kokos, Ryan Murphy and Schooley to load the bases. Ryan Mostrangeli then brought Kokos home with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Profs took the lead in the seventh with three runs, led off by Trip McCaffrey, who reached base on an error. After he advanced on a single by McIsaac and a sacrifice bunt from Victor Cruz, he scored on a single from Kokos. With runners on at the corners, Schooley came through with a two-run double, to bring home Murphy and McIsaac and give Rowan a 4-2 lead.

SJF added another in the seventh on a single by Patrick Kravitz to score James Ward and pull the Cardinals within 4-3.

Rowan got its insurance runs in the top of the ninth when Schooley came through again, with a two-run double to put the Profs up, 6-3.

The game was originally set to start at 2:30 p.m. but due to rain delays in the first game, and lingering storms in the area, it was pushed to a 7 p.m. first pitch.
