NEWARK, NJ – The #21 Rowan softball team won both games of a conference doubleheader at Rutgers-Newark, 10-0 and 12-0.
Emily August was the winning pitcher in the opener. She (9-2) only allowed one hit and struck out eight batters.
The Profs had seven players that contributed with at least one hit. Left fielder
Morgan Zane compiled one double, a home run, three RBI and two runs. Shortstop
Payton MacNair totaled three hits, two doubles, one RBI and two runs. Second baseman
Sonia Sharma collected two hits, one RBI and three runs.

Kelly Duffy added one hit, one RBI and one run. Third baseman
Breanna Bryant had a triple and scored one run. First baseman
Cat Thomas and center fielder
Rebecca Lombardo each registered one hit.
Rowan ended the game in five innings because of the eight run rule with three runs in the top of the fifth. Sharma had a RBI single, scoring MacNair who got on base with a double. Zane recorded a two run homer, which is her third on the season.
The Profs scored two runs in the first inning then added four more in the second and one in the third. In the first, Zane doubled home Sharma and Duffy's RBI single drove in Zane. All four runs in the second scored on errors. Bryant tripled in the third and crossed the plate on MacNair's double to center field.
MacNair led the way in the second game. She had one double, two triples, two RBIs and two runs. Catcher
Korie Hague and Zane each registered a double and scored twice. Right fielder
Mariah Wysocki, Sharma and Bryant posted two RBIs apiece. Center fielder
Sarah Brosman had a double, one RBI and a run.
August, Thomas and Duffy shared the duties on the mound. Rowan has a 21-5 record and is in first place of the New Jersey Athletic Conference with a 15-1 mark. Rutgers-Newark is 2-12 overall and 2-12 in the conference.
The Profs had one run in the first inning then led 10-0 after nine runs in the second. Bryant singled in the first run in the second inning. She scored on MacNair's triple then Sharma knocked in MacNair with a base hit up the middle. Zane and Hague posted back-to-back RBI doubles.
Wysocki drove in the sixth run with a single. Brosman had a RBI double and Bryant's base hit scored Brosman. MacNair hit a triple to right field, scoring Bryant. Rowan's last two runs came in the third inning.
