Baseball Falls To Keystone, 5-4

AUBURNDALE, FL – The Rowan University baseball team fell to Keystone College, 5-4 in its first game of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Friday. 
 
The Giants are 3-3 on the season, while the Profs are 2-1.
 
First baseman Ronald Medina (sr. Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) led Keystone with two home runs and four runs batted in (RBI). Third baseman Nick Carlini (jr. Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) added one hit and one RBI, while Chris Panzarella (sr. Hazle Twp., PA/Hazleton Area) recorded a run and a hit. Right-hander Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point NC/Heide Trask) pitched the full nine innings and struck out seven batters. 
 
For Rowan, center fielder Matt Woods (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) produced three hits and one RBI. Third baseman Nick Schooley (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had two hits and scored two runs. First baseman Anthony Harrold (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) contributed two RBIs on one hit. Right-hander Andrew DiPiazza (sr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) tossed five innings and struck out seven. Right-hander Jeremy Dyzenhaus (jr. Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) threw two innings and fanned two batters, while right-hander Zach Listro (jr. Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) pitched one inning and had two strikeouts. 
 
The Brown and Gold trailed, 1-0 at the top of the third. Rowan answered by scoring two runs to go ahead, 2-1. Schooley got on first with a bunt, followed by two walks from shortstop Dillon Mendel (sr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and Woods. On the next at-bat, Harrold blasted a single to center field that plated Schooley and Mendel. 
 
After the Giants tied the game at two in the bottom of the fourth, the Profs took a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Woods singled to left field and scored Schooley. Keystone responded in the same inning when Carlini homered to tie the game at three. 
 
Rowan led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth. Medina hit his second home run on the day to take a 5-4 advantage. 
 
The Profs are back in action on Saturday, March 16 when they face Ripon College at 1:30 p.m.
