#8 Field Hockey Falls To #16 Lynchburg, 1-0 In NCAA Second Round

SALISBURY, MD – The #8 Rowan University field hockey team had a 1-0 loss to #16 University of Lynchburg in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.  The second and third round games are at Salisbury University.
 
Lynchburg (20-3) plays #3 Salisbury (19-1) on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. in the third round.  Salisbury defeated FDU-Florham, 1-0 in the second round.  The semifinals and final are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23 and 24 at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, PA.
 
Midfielder Emily Dudley scored the winning goal at 12:30 in the first quarter.  It was her 16thgoal on the season.  The Hornets ended the game with 12 total shots.  They had seven in the second stanza and the Profs' goalie Morgan Novak turned away five.  Novak finished the game with seven saves.  
 
The Hornets edged the Profs in penalty corners, 10-9.  Goalie Laurel Nicks made three stops for Lynchburg.
 
The Profs end the year with a 15-5 record.  They were ranked eighth in the last Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Poll and third in the final NCAA South Atlantic Region Rankings. This was Rowan's 20th appearance in the national tournament.
