GLASSBORO, NJ – The #4 Rowan University field hockey team fell to conference opponent #16 Kean University, 3-1.
The Profs have a 9-2 record and a 2-1 conference mark. The Cougars have won 14 straight games and are 14-1 on the season. They are 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Forward/midfielder Rachel Mills led Kean with two goals and forward/midfielder Melissa Way had one goal and an assist. Forward Ja'Carra Jackson contributed with an assist. Midfielder
Kristiina Castagnola scored Rowan's goal.
Both teams had 11 shots and 11 penalty corners. The Cougars' goalie Belly Reynoso made eight saves. For the Profs, goalie
Morgan Novak stopped six shots.
Kean jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Way was in front of the cage and she scored with a shot (2:48) on a pass from Jackson. Mills knocked the ball (4:17) into the lower left corner.
Castagnola blasted a shot after a rebound (56:16). It was her 12
thgoal on the season. Mills had her second (57:38) when she tapped in a loose ball.
