GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated the University of Lynchburg, 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs are undefeated with a 7-0 record and they are ranked 13
thin the nation. Forward
Rachel Galante (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Collingswood) scored twice and back
Julie Johnson (sr. Mount Ephraim, NJ/Audubon) contributed with a goal and an assist. Forwards
Bridget Guinan (fr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and
Krystyna Hovell (fr. Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and back
Casey Wagner (jr. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) all had an assist.
Midfielder Nikki Simpao (sr. Stafford, VA/Colonia Forge) scored for the Hornets (3-2) and forward Jackie Lerro (so. Royerford, PA/Pope John Paul II) had an assist. Lynchburg's goalie Laurel Nicks (so. Yorktown, VA/Grafton) stopped 12 shots.

Morgan Novak (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) made three saves. Novak has a 0.77 goals against average.
Galante scored the first goal at 10:09 when she knocked in a cross from Guinan. Johnson hit the cage (18:35) from just inside the top of the circle after a pass from Wagner.
In the second half, Rowan led 3-0 at 39:11 after Galante's second goal. Hovell took a penalty corner and sent the ball to Johnson. Galante was in front of the net and hit the top after a feed from Johnson. In seven games, Galante has compiled 13 goals and one assist for 27 points. Simpao spoiled the shutout (47:56) with a high shot and an assist from Lerro.
Rowan is home again on Sunday, Sept. 23 versus SUNY Oneonta at 1 p.m.
