GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University football team is home against Salisbury University for the "Profs Go Purple" game on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
The Profs are coming off a huge 28-27 upset win over nationally ranked Wesley College. The Sea Gulls kept their perfect record in check after a 33-0 victory over Southern Virginia University.
This will be the 26th meeting between both schools and Rowan holds a 14-10-1 advantage over Salisbury. Last year, the Sea Gulls shutout the Profs, 33-0.
During the contest, the center for Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV) will have an informational table with resources on domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking. This will provide information on SERV's counseling services as well as its partner program, Peaceful Tomorrows, which offers joint counseling for parents and children exposed to domestic violence. Students are encouraged to visit the table and take any free swag and use the hashtag "StandSpeakEmpower" on social media to support SERV and survivors. Anyone who would like to pledge can sign up at the game and encourage men to take a stand against domestic violence. The Stand, Speak, Empower t-shirts will also be available for purchase.
The Women's Center in the Office of Social Justice, Inclusion and Conflict Resolution will be holding a Clothes Line Project table at the football game, starting at 12:00 p.m. At this table, community members can write a message of support, a story about domestic, or intimate partner violence on a purple t-shirt. Once a shirt is made, they will be hung up on the fence creating a living art project that will grow throughout the day. After the game, the shirts will be moved to Memorial Circle to be put on display on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, and will remain up as the Clothes Line Project Art Installation until Friday, Nov. 2.
Rowan athletics will be taking donations for SERV. With a $5 donation, you will receive a Profs Go Purple rally towel. At halftime, a check of donations will be given to SERV.
