Women's Soccer Defeats NJAC Opponent Rutgers-Newark, 4-1 On Senior Day

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated Rutgers-Newark, 4-1 on Saturday. 
 
Before the game, Rowan honored its senior players; midfielders Sami Pagnani (sr. Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Reg.), Sarah Rosenberg (sr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and Darah Wagner (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), back Ali Hicks (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.), forward Cathryn McCarry (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and goalie Shelby Money (sr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland).
 
The Profs are 10-1-2 overall and 5-0-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Scarlet Raiders have a 6-7-2 record with a 2-5 conference mark.
 
Wagner led Rowan with one goal and two assists.  Forward Daria Jones (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) contributed with one goal and one assist.  Forward Lauren Wood (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and McCarry each had one marker.  Midfielder Juliana Ceballos (sr. Elizabethtown, NJ/Elizabeth) scored for Rutgers-Newark on a penalty kick.
 
Money ended the game with five saves.  Rutgers-Newark goalie Heidi Paulson (jr. West Orange, NJ/West Orange) made three stops in 70 minutes and goalkeeper Jasmin Erichsen (so. Hoboken, NJ/High Tech) had one save in 20 minutes.
 
Wood put the Profs on the scoreboard at 10:55.  She knocked in a cross from Jones.  McCarry scored with a feed from Wagner for a 2-0 advantage at the break.  Wagner hit the net at 65:24 and she assisted on Jones' goal less than two minutes later. Ceballos spoiled the shutout at 83:13.
 
Next week, Rowan has a rescheduled game against Arcadia University on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m.
