Results
SWARTHMORE, PA – The Rowan University women's swim team won a tri-meet at Swarthmore College on Saturday. The Profs defeated Stevens Institute of Technology, 193-68 and Swarthmore, 144-117.
Rowan (7-2) won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:41.35 and was second (4:05.01) in the 400 medley relay. The free relay included
Antonia Simunek (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway),
Abigail Brous (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford),
Elizabeth O'Brien (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) and
Miranda Coughlan (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.). O'Brien,
Emily Kopchick (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Gabby Gligor (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Coughlan were on the medley relay.
Coughlan claimed first in the 50 (25:07) and 100 (54.85) free.
Carlee Timmins (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) was the winner in the 1000 (10:41.50) freestyle and she was third (5:18.34) in the 500. Kopchick was the winner (1:09.31) in the 100 breaststroke and she had a third place (2:33.36) in the 200 breaststroke.
Alex Bambrick (so. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) touched first (1:00.94) in the 100 backstroke. She was also third (10:56.07) in the 1000 freestyle and fourth (4:47.17) in the 400 individual medley. Gligor won (1:01.08) the 100 butterfly and
Veronica Alferez (fr. Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Mem.) was second (1:01.57). In the 200 butterfly, Alferez and Gligor were second (2:17.61) and third (2:19.75) respectively. Alferez also had a second place (4:46.07) in the 400 individual medley.
Simunek took second in the 50 (25.72) and 100 (55.82) freestyles.
Amanda Burke (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) came in second (1:02.81) in the 100 backstroke and Brous followed third (1:03.18). Burke also took second (2:13.59) in the 200 backstroke.
Bailey Howarth (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) finished second (2:30.75) in the 200 breaststroke and fourth (1:10.32) in the 100 breaststroke.
Megan Miller (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) had a third place (1:09.63) in the 100 breaststroke.
In the 200 freestyle,
Emily LaBenski (so. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.) and
Bianca Karpinski (so. Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) finished fourth (2:02.23) and fifth (2:02.66) respectively. O'Brien finished fourth (2:14.43) in the 200 backstroke and Karpinski was fifth (2:15.80). LaBenski also had a sixth place (4:54.86) in the 400 individual medley.
Rowan is on the road again next week at conference opponent The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.
