NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men's indoor track & field team traveled to the Ramapo Season Opener on Friday. The meet was held at the Armory and there was no team scoring.
Will Cardona (sr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) came in second in the weight throw with a school record toss of 53' 9" (16.38 m). He posted the distance on his fourth attempt. The previous record of 51' 8.5" (15.76 m) was set by Blake Ballas in 2016. Cardona also finished third (44' 6.75", 13.58 m) in the shot put.
Kevin Veltre (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) captured first in the one mile with a time of 4:17.17. The 4x400 meter relay won with a time of 3:21.28. The relay included
Anthony Salemo (jr. Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey),
Hunter Barbieri (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.),
Jamil Jackson (sr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) and
Francis Terry (fr. Laurel Springs, NJ/Sterling).
Shai Mumford (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and Terry claimed the top two spots in the 200 meters with respective times of 22.15 and 22.33. In the 60 meter hurdles,
Bobby Cooks (sr. Pembroke Pines, FL/McArthur) finished second (8.10) followed by
Tyler Garland (fr. Deptford, NJ/Deptford Twp.), third (8.48).
Nick Neville (so. Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick) placed second (2:32.43) in the 1000 meters and
Nick Nocco (sr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) was sixth (2:36.16).
Earnest Daniel (fr. Woolwich, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) had a third place (45' 0.5", 13.73 m) in the triple jump.
Crispin D'Augusta (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) ran the 800 meters in 1:59.02 for fourth place and
Liam Cunningham (fr. West Orange, NJ/West Orange) was seventh (1:59.90).
Chris Mesiano (jr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) took fifth (1:07.14) in the 500 meters while
Steven Jones (sr. Woolwich, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) came in fifth (22.48) in the 200 meters.
Jacorey Williams (sr. Clementon, NJ/Highland Reg.) finished fifth (43' 5.25", 13.24 m) in the shot put and he was eighth (42' 11.5", 13.09 m) in the weight throw.
In the 400 meters, Barbieri crossed the line sixth (51.08) and Jackson followed in ninth (51.54). Daniel "Fitch" Henry (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) placed seventh (4:27.43) in the one mile.
Next, the Profs visit Lehigh University for the John Covert Classic on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m.
