Box Score ST. DAVIDS, PA – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated Eastern University, 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday.
 
Midfielder/back Casey Wagner (so. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) recorded the winning goal with 1:31 left in the first 15-minute overtime.  She scored on a breakaway with a pass from forward Myranda Christy (jr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights). 
 
Forward Bridget Boyle (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) scored the Profs' first goal of the game at 42:32.  She knocked in a loose ball on a rebound after a shot from outside the circle.  Midfielder Gina Miller (sr. Mount Joy, PA/Elizabethtown) tied the score at 68:31.  She blasted a shot into the cage on a penalty corner by forward Maya Wales (so. Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area).   
 
Both teams are 1-2 on the season.  The Profs edged the Eagles in total shots, 14-13 and they compiled 11 penalty corners while Eastern had four.  Rowan goalie Carly DeMarco (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) made eight saves.  For the Eagles, goalie Nicole Berger (sr. Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) stopped five shots.
 
Next, Rowan hosts Catholic University on Saturday, Sept. 9 at noon.  The game will be played at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
