Box Score EWING, NJ – The College of New Jersey field hockey team won 5-0 against visiting Rowan University on Tuesday night.
The Lions improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). This week, TCNJ is ranked fifth in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches Poll. The Profs have a 6-5 record with a 0-2 conference mark.
Forward Cayla Andrews (so. Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) started the scoring with a penalty stroke (9:25). She produced her second tally at 29:34 with a backhand shot from 10 yards. Midfielder/back Sidney Padilla (jr. Suffern, NY/Suffern) connected with forward Taylor Barrett (jr. Neshanic Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) on a penalty corner (33:44) for the third goal.
In the second half, forward Elizabeth Morrison (sr. Stonington, CT/Stonington) scored two goals (50:31, 60:17). Midfielder Samantha Reed (fr. Westbury, NY/Carle Place) had an assist on the second one.
Goalie Christina Fabiano (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) made seven saves for her fourth shutout. For the Profs, goalie
Carly DeMarco (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) turned away seven shots.
Rowan is on the road again at Ramapo College on Saturday, Oct. 7 for a 4 p.m. NJAC contest.
