Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ  – The Ursinus College field hockey team won 3-0 at Rowan University on Thursday night.  It was the season opener for both teams.
 
The Bears were ahead 2-0 after the first half.  Back Colleen Leahy (sr. Centereach, NY/Centereach) knocked in a rebound at 8:34 after a save by Rowan goalie Carly DeMarco (jr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City).  Forward Amber Steigerwalt (sr. Warrington, PA/Central Bucks S.) had the initial shot.  Back Ann Kopera (sr. Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) had the second tally on a penalty stroke (33:45). 
 
In the second period, Steigerwalt scored in front of the cage at 39:36 with an assist from back Aliki Torrence (sr. Reading, PA/Exeter).  Ursinus goalie Jules Singer (so. Newtown, PA/Council Rock N.) made six saves for the shutout.  DeMarco ended the game with six stops. 
 
Next, Rowan travels to Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday, Sept. 3 for a noon contest.
