NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men's indoor track team finished in third place at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Saturday night. The meet was held at the Armory.
Jon Sewnig (jr. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) was the conference champion in the 5000 meters in 15:10.56. He also had a second place (8:45.41) in the 3000 meters. Mike Carotenuto (sr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) took the NJAC title in the one mile run with a time of 4:21.67. Glenn Kohles (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) won the shot put championship with a throw of 50' 10" (15.49 meters).
Rowan finished third in the distance medley relay (10:43.73) and the 4x800 meter relay (8:13.38). Mike Lewis (jr. Downingtown, PA/Downingtown W.), Charles Boon (fr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), Tyler Sheilds (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and Mike Davies (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) were on the distance medley relay. Lewis, Carotenuto, Davies and Rob Buzby (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) made up the 4x800.
Blake Ballas (fr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 44' 9" (13.64 meters) and Frank Visconti (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) was fifth (41' 2.5", 12.56 meters). Visconti took third (48' 4, 14.73 meters) in the shot put followed by Dalton Trembow (so. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt), fourth (45' 5", 13.84 meters). Trevant McCloud (so. Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold) had a fifth place (8.66) in the 60 meter hurdles.
The 4x200 meter relay was fifth (1:31.03) with Tyler Coulbourn (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.), Brendan Dugan (so. Westfield, NJ/Westfield), Ali Ejaz (sr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) and McCloud. The 4x400 meter relay of Boon, Sheilds, Mike Parrillo (so. Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) and Evan Fry (fr. Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) came in seventh (3:28.72).
In the 5000 meters, Tim Dole (so. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) came in fifth (16:03.28) and Buzby was seventh (16:09.34). Carlos Coronado (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) had an eighth place (9:13.11) in the 3000 meters and Jesse Spector (jr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) was ninth (9:18.84). Parrillo took 10th (52.06) in the 400 meters. Dugan finished 10th (7.37) in the 60 meter dash while Ejaz and Coulbourn were 11th (7.38) and 12th (7.39) respectively. Lewis came in 13th (2:06.59) in the 800 meters.
