Box Score BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins University defeated Rowan University, 24-16 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship Tournament on Saturday.
The Profs finish the season with a record of 7-4. The Blue Jays (11-0) advance to the second round and face Hobart College on Saturday, November 29 at noon. Hobart won over Ithaca College, 22-15 in the first round. The location of the game will be determined on Sunday.

Running back Brandon Cherry (jr. Parkville, MD/Boys' Latin) had 52 yards on 13 carries. Wideout Quinn Donaldson (so. Bowling Green, OH/Bowling Green) had seven receptions for 105 yards and two TDs. Wide receiver Bradley Munday (so. Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) totaled 11 catches for 77 yards.
Defensive linemen Michael Longo (sr. Scarsdale, NY/Iona Prep) and Lance Hammond (fr. Springfield, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary) each collected seven stops. Longo registered 1.5 sacks (12 yards) and 1.5 tackles for a loss (12 yards).
Johns Hopkins scored the first points of the game on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Anderson to Donaldson with 9:48 to play in the first quarter. The four play, 48-yard drive was setup by a Rowan fumble at its own 48-yard-line. Anderson had three completions for 47 yards on the drive. Simone forced a fumble at the Profs' one-yard-line that was recovered by Barillo in the end zone at the 2:11 mark. The Profs then went three-and-out and on the first play of the Blue Jays' ensuing drive, wide receiver Ryan Finkel (jr. Oradell, NJ/Bergen Catholic) caught a 48-yard touchdown pass (0:31).
Rowan got on the scoreboard with 11:51 remaining in the second as Forchion found his way into the end zone with a 12-yard catch. The drive was five plays and encompassed 51 yards. Marcelin ran the ball three times for 39 yards on the drive. Safety #
