Women's Soccer Shuts Out New Jersey City, 5-0

Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team shut out New Jersey City University, 5-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.  It was the Profs' eighth shutout on the season.

Rowan had five different players contribute with one goal.  Midfielders Lisa Cella (fr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) and Megan Carchidi (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) both scored in the first half.  Cella knocked in the rebound at 22:53 after her first shot was saved by Brittany Hoffman (jr. McMurray, PA/Peters Twp.).  Hoffmann ended the game with a career high 29 saves.  Carchidi hit the net on a breakaway on a feed from back Deandra Turchi (jr. Turnersville, NJ/Paul VI). 

Midfielder Victoria Camera (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton W.) scored at 48:40 with an assist from forward Dayna Sakalsky (sr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central).  Forward Erika Suhl (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) had a breakaway goal at 64:30.  Forward Tiffany Kelly (so. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) registered the final goal and back Allison Barker (jr. Croydon, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) assisted.
 
The Profs have a 9-1 record with a 2-0 conference mark.  The Gothic Knights are 1-5-1 overall and 0-3 in the NJAC.  Goalies Carleigh Trivino (fr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) and Jamie Cheeka (fr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) played 68:44 and 21:16 respectively in the Profs' net.

Next week, Rowan hosts Richard Stockton College on Wednesday, October 2 at 5 p.m.
